Smoke Tanks & Aux. Fuel
The "Front Seat Tank" above is used for Smoke or Gas,
the capacity is 30+ gallons for fuel and about
10 gallons when using smoke oil. An internal
header tank and flop tube is installed.
Plumbing is set up for smoke or gas, with the only switchover in front of
the pilot on the floor.
You might notice an extra GOLD in-line filter installed in this photo to
act as an
additional trap in front of the Christen Wobble pump. All the plumbing fittings
are
#6 AN aircraft fittings.
The two sections above are a part of the mold used to build these tanks.
The mold was split in four
sections allowing one seam during final
assembly around the girth of the tank.
The main tank section is one solid piece, pulled out of this mold above.
Baffels and an optional header tank can be installed easily upon
extraction. We used only S glass with West Epoxy in the actual tank
construction. Two layers are structural glass, and Seven more layers are
regular boat glass.
